[GING NANG BOYZ PROFILE]
On January 2003, Japanese punk band GOING STEADY disbanded. Soon
afterwards, vocalist Mineta Kazunobu formed GING NANG BOYZ. Originallya solo project, he eventually recruited former GOING STEADY members
Abiko Shinya (on bass) and Murai Mamoru (on drums) as well as a new
guitarlist, Chin Nakamura. With this lineup, GING NANG BOYZ became an
active unit starting in March of 2003.
That same year, aside from band activity, vocalist Mineta Kazunobu starred in the film "IDEN&TITY,"his first movie appearance.
On January 2005, GING NANG BOYZ simultaneously released their first
two albums -- "DOOR" and "KIMI TO BOKU NO DAISANJISEKAITAISENTEKI RENAI KAKUMEI" ("Our World War 3-like Love Revolution") and, starting in
February of that year, embarked on their GING NANG BOYZ SEKAI TOUR
2005, stopping at 44 different places all across Japan.
On June 2006, while going to see a concert at the American
punk/hardcore sanctuary in Berkeley, 924 GILMAN ST, GING NANG BOYZ
performed as a last minute replacement to one of the bands that had to
cancel their appearance. They performed in front of approximately 200
people.
The following month, vocalist Mineta and guitarrist Chin Nakamura
formed a side project, BINKAN SHOUNENTAI, consisting of Mineta, Chin
and four girls. Their first recording was released as a single titled
"SOUND OF SHIMOKITAZAWA."
On September 2006, Mineta Kazunobu released his first book, "KOI TO
TAIKUTSU" ("Love and Boredom"), handling the book's design and
formatting duties himself.
On April 2007, the band documentary DVD "BOKUTACHI WA SEKAI WO KAERU KOTO GA DEKINAI" ("We can't change the world") was released. That same month, a set of two books by the band titled "GING NANG SHOCK!" were released.
On July of 2007, GING NANG BOYZ performed at the greatest music
festival in Taiwan, FORMOZ FESTIVAL 2007, entertaining the crowds at
the Wind Stage. The band followed this with increased activity,
releasing single "AIDONWANADAI" ("I don't wanna die") in August,
another single titled "HIKARI" ("Light") in November, and, in
December, embarking on the SENSOU HANTAI TOUR, stopping off at 7
locales all across Japan.
Currently, GING NANG BOYZ are working on new songs as well as
preparing their second documentary DVD themselves.
