Foo Fighters may be on top of the world right now, but things weren’t always that way for the band. Two tracks recorded during the initial, scrapped One By One sessions known as the “million-dollar demos” have leaked online.

After four years away — that is, if you aren’t counting frontman Dave Grohl’s venture into the pummeling supergroup universe that was Them Crooked Vultures — Foo Fighters returned this past spring with their hardest-hitting album since 1997’s The Colour and the Shape. Wasting Light, recorded to analog tape in Grohl’s SoCal garage, is a blissful assault on the eardrums, highlighted by the metal blitzkrieg of “Bridges Burning” and the Zeppelin thwack of “Rope.” And that’s not the only homage to the hard-edged past, a time and movement Grohl clearly holds close: Hüsker Dü’s Bob Mould shares vocal duties with Grohl on the chainsaw blues of “Dear Rosemary.”

The Foos — which also include bassist Nate Mendel, drummer Taylor Hawkins and guitarists Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear — are hitting the road this summer and fall, playing everywhere from The Isle of Wight to Lollapalooza. Take a look at a full list of tour dates right here.
