The Killers' Brandon Flowers to release solo album
by Emily Zemler Apr 29, 2010 at 5:56 PM
Yesterday Brandon Flowers—part-time Killers frontman and occassional egomaniac—announced that he is working on his solo debut. Several news outlets noticed that The Killers’ website was housing a mysterious countdown and this morning it became apparent that the numbers were ticking down to a news announcement, which turned out to be the title of Flowers’ album, Flamingo.
(Yes, that’s the second album the dude has named after a casino.)
The page, which showcases a Brandon Flowers neon sign, also plays music in the background that may or may not have anything to do with the forthcoming disc. The band’s publicist confirmed the release to Billboard and acknowledged that it will be released via Island, but no release date has been set.

Patrick Stump reveals details on upcoming solo album
by Jonah Bayer Apr 22, 2010 at 5:26 PM
Fall Out Boy fans, we’ve got some good news for you: In addition to performing in D.C. today to help celebrate Earth Day, the band’s enigmatic frontman Patrick Stump recently gave an interview where he revealed that his upcoming solo debut is almost finished.
“It’s really hard to describe,” he responded about his upcoming disc whose name and label are still TBD. “It’s easier to say what it’s not. It’s definitely not a rock record. My dad was a folk singer, and so I think there’s always gonna be an inherent folkiness to the lyrics, not necessarily in any other way. There’s a lot of R&B, there’s a lot of funkiness to it. I would definitely characterize it as at least some kind of outsider folk music.”

Radiohead drummer preps solo album, Phil Collins nods approvingly
by Amar Syal Apr 05, 2010 at 9:31 AM
Back in December, Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien told Rolling Stone that the band was rehearsing for a new album. But now, some three months later, it seems like Seth Meyers should probably shoot a segment of Really?!? about him.
After all, the rest of the guys in Radiohead have kept very busy in that time by not playing with Radiohead: Earlier this year, Thom Yorke announced a new band called Atoms For Peace — whose first American tour begins today in New York — while Jonny Greenwood just signed on to score the film adaptation for Haruki Murakami’s 1987 novel Norwegian Wood.

Metro Station broke up (for real), Trace Cyrus to form new group
by Jonah Bayer Mar 31, 2010 at 10:10 AM
Still upset about the break up of Metro Station? Well, wallow no longer.
No, former frontman Trace Cyrus isn’t forming a band with his sister Miley Cyrus or his adoptive father Billy Ray. But Cyrus did announce via his Twitter account that he would be returning to music sooner than most expected.
“I will be releasing my own music very soon,” a recent Tweet read. “With a new band name. I’m excited for this new path in my life but sad to say bye to MS.” Cyrus followed this statement up two days ago, adding (or, more accurately, yelling) that a “NEW SONG WILL BE POSTED ONLINE BY THE END OF THIS WEEK. get ready.”
