By now, everybody knows Taylor Swift and One Direction’s Harry Styles have (allegedly) called it quits – no surprise there, right? I mean, Taylor is well-known for dating, dumping and then writing songs about her past relationships. So that means our girl has a follow-up record to write! ‘Red’ was a huge hit, with songs that alluded to past romances with people like Jake Gyllenhaal and…Jake Gyllenhaal. So, it should come as no surprise to anyone when the next big Taylor Swift single comes out it might be about young Harry Styles. Here are some thoughts as to what that song may be called and maybe even a few lyric ideas.

  • The Ten Best (And Worst) Things In Pop Culture - 2012

It’s that time of year again! Yep, the time of the year when we celebrate the things we liked and didn’t like in pop culture in list form!

Let’s start with the good, shall we?

The Top 10 Best Things In Pop Culture In 2012
    .
1.) ‘The Avengers’ – With so many characters (and not to mention mega star egos) to juggle, ‘The Avengers’ could have easily been an incoherent mess of a movie. Instead, under the watchful eye of director Joss Whedon, it turned out to be the most entertaining (and dare I say best) super hero movie ever made. The film managed to give equal screen time to all of its mega watt superstars and finally (FINALLY!!!) did The Hulk proud. Yes, ‘The Avengers’ made a ton of money, but it never felt like a soulless blockbuster, actually, it was just the opposite – which is why ‘The Avengers’ will forever be considered a classic.

Once again, it’s the holiday gift giving season – which is the best of all the gift giving seasons – and, as we all know, nothing says “I love you” to your friends and family more than something with a famous person’s likeness on it. Seriously. So, here are a few pop culture related items that should satisfy someone on your list.

The Dark Knight Trilogy’ on Blu-Ray: Once upon a time, George Lucas defined what it meant to be a trilogy when he produced the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy. A few decades later Peter Jackson built on and arguably bested Lucas with his own ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, and now Christopher Nolan has challenged them all with his ambitious, thrilling and near perfect ‘Dark Knight’ Trilogy. Nolan’s Dark Knight franchise is far and away the best representation of Batman ever put on screen and with a plethora of extras, this box set deserves a spot on your shelf.

For the first time since ‘True Grit’ did it 2010, ‘Argo’ managed to parlay its great word of mouth buzz to the top spot of the weekend three weeks into its release with $12.4 million. It’s a feel good story, for sure, as ‘Argo’ is as fine a movie to be released in 2012 and as we’ve discussed over these last three weeks, it’s nice when good, smart movies prove to be moneymakers.

  • 'The Vampire Diaries' Recap: "The Rager"

Last week’s ‘Vampire Diaries’ was a series high and is easily on the short list for best episode ever, but it was also an emotional roller coaster, technically perfect, but incredibly taxing. This week’s episode, “The Rager” had a lot to live up to, but also needed to come in with a bit of a lighter heart to give fans a bit of a reprieve and it delivered. It’s easy to look at “The Rager” as just a “cool down” episode, but while it was fun (DAMON AND KLAUS! DAMON AND MEREDITH!), it also quietly dug deeper into Elena’s transition which will be the emotional crux of the entire season.
