.Well it’s official, The Flaming Lips have broken the record previously set by Jay-Z for the most concerts performed in multiple cities over a 24-hour period as of this evening.
.
“To be able to pick up this silly drinking book-after all, Guinness is a beer-this funny book that when I was growing up was a curiosity. To be published alongside the man who ate 22 pounds of his own boogers, beside the woman with the longest toenails or perhaps even to be published beside an individual who has had maybe 1000 cockroaches stuffed into their ears… that, to me, would be one of life’s absurd joys,” Wayne Coyne said in a statement.
.
The endeavor kicked off yesterday in Memphis and saw Jackson Browne, Grace Potter And The Nocturnals, Neon Trees, Karmin and more joining them for eight sets in eight cities along the way before they wrapped things up on Thursday evening in New Orleans. If you didn’t catch the livestream, don’t worry, you can view the adventure over at the OMusicAwards.com site.
.
