What do you do when you suffer from panic attacks? You bake, of course …

That’s what Emma Stone does, anyway, and she talks about her history with anxiety in the July issue of VOGUE.

In the candid interview, “The Amazing Spider-Man” actress says the panic attacks started when she was 8 years old.
    .
“I was just kind of immobilized by it,” she says. “I didn’t want to go to my friends’ houses or hang out with anybody, and nobody really understood.”
    .
But despite the crippling condition she persevered … and it clearly paid off. She says doing improv helped keep her focussed.
    .
“[Being on stage] gave me a sense of purpose. I wanted to make people laugh,” she tells Vogue. “Comedy was my sport. It taught me how to roll with the punches. Failure is the exact same as success when it comes to comedy because it just keeps coming. It never stops.”

Emma, 23, says the panic attacks still plague her sometimes, but baking helps quell her anxiety … and she says she turned to the hobby to get her through filming “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
    .
“I think I felt really out of control of my surroundings,” she says. “I was just baking all the time. It seemed like it made me feel, if I put these in, I’ll know what the outcome is.”

Though Emma still experiences panic attacks occasionally, she said she’s “learned how to channel her feelings into her work.”
    .
In the end of the article, her “Spider-Man” co-star Andrew Garfield says, “Working with Emma was like diving into a thrilling, twisting river and never holding on to the sides,” he said. “From the start. To the end. Spontaneous. In the moment. Present. Terrifying. Vital. The only way acting with someone should be.”
    .
We admire Emma for her candor … and her courage!
