Last night ‘American Idol’ said goodbye to its resident church boy, Mr. Joshua Ledet and, believe it or not, I think America got it right. Make no mistake about it, I’m not a huge Jessica Sanchez fan and I’m not a Phil Phillips fan at all, but of the final three, Joshua is the least comfortable on stage and by association the worst performer. Jimmy called him the best “showman,” but what he means is “the contestant who’ll scream the most,” because Jess and Phil are clearly better in front of crowds. While I’m sure Joshua is a very nice young man and I wish him well, had he won he would have sold less records than any ‘Idol’ since Taylor Hicks.
There was a Ford commercial. Phil wasn’t in it. Then the final four sang a song for the ‘Ice Age’ soundtrack, and the woman running the session hated Phil because he’s a bad singer.

Lisa Marie Presley did her best Stevie Nicks impression, complete with a guitar player who was dressed like like one of her more famous collaborators, Tom Petty. Turns out her best Stevie Nicks impression is not a very good Stevie Nicks impression, though I’ll admit that chorus was pretty catchy.
.
We put Jessica through the “Jimmy Ringer” and he was not very complimentary, but claimed he thought she was talented enough to “sing at the Grammy’s,” which would put her alongside such amazing singers as The Black Eyed Peas and LMFAO. In any event, Jessica Sanchez isn’t going to win, but she’s going to be the season’s biggest star in about a year or two.
.
Adam Lambert’s up next and he’s awesome. It calls to memory season 8 and, perhaps, the single greatest final three in ‘Idol’’s history. Compare Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta to these three and it’s not even close. I still can’t believe Adam lost, though.

Phil’s the last contestant to go through “Jimmy Justice” and we see once and for all that even Jimmy is pushing for a Phil victory. Also, in the recaps of everyone’s performances Steven uses the term “over the top” in all of them. It’s his “in it to win it.” I need to be honest and admit that I let my bias cloud my vision last night as “We’ve Got Tonight” was a pretty good performance. It was his best performance of the entire competition. I mean, let’s be honest, he hasn’t really had any particularly good performances, but this one was most certainly good. Should he win? No. Of the three, Jessica’s the ‘American Idol,’ but he will win and really, who cares?
