Fashion Week is officially in full swing! Wednesday night’s amfAR New York Gala kicked off the week’s festivities, and the A-list’s finest (plus Lindsay Lohan) turned out for it. Heidi Klum, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cindy Crawford, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Hudson, and Padma Lakshmi all graced the red carpet in some questionable, and some not-so-questionable, ensembles. We’ve got the dish on who wore what, plus highlights from the best — and worst — of Thursday’s shows. Are you ready for the runway?!?

Let’s get what will hopefully be remembered at Fashion Week’s lowest point out of the way first — Ms. Lindsay Lohan. We really have no words for this look. If you do, leave them in the comments below this article.

Sarah Jessica Parker also looked somewhat off on the red carpet in this too-long, too-summery skirt, white gloves, and leather jacket. She knows she’s not actually Carrie Bradshaw, right?

Luckily, the other ladies present pulled it together — here’s Cindy Crawford and Julianne Moore, looking lovely. Can you believe Cindy’s 46 and Julianne’s 52? They look younger than Lindsay, no? Well, definitely healthier…

Let’s move on to the shows, and the clothes we really cared to see yesterday. The first show of note on Thursday was the BCBG Max Azria show. The fall collection was dress-centric, but also included belted trenches and wide-leg pants. Color-blocking carried over from spring, but this time the trend showed up in pleats of various colors. As a whole, the collection was heavily influenced by ‘70s sportswear. See the full slideshow here.

Cynthia Rowley’s show drew quite the A-list crowd, with everyone from Abigail Breslin to Rebecca Romijn making an appearance in the front row. The collection mixed high-tech with old-school crafts like cobbling — see the full slideshow here.

Richard Chai Love showed basic colors and basic shapes, with little embellishment. See the full slideshow here.

Juan Carlos Obando had his biggest season in Spring 2012, thanks in large part to his usage of bright colors. The palette appeared on yesterday’s runway as well, but the designer also included some more experimental looks, which attempted to “combine the natural with the artificial.” The final look from Mr. Obando’s show is said to have been snapped up already by an A-lister for the Academy Awards later this month. Nicholas K showed a western-influenced, fringe-heavy collection, which utilized horsehair in jackets and parkas for both sexes. See the full slideshow here.

We’ll finish out today’s roundup with a look at the Creatures of the Wind show, as it was one of Fashion Week’s most anticipated events. This collection marked the Chicago-based designers’ first attempt at evening wear, and was described by Chris Peters, one of the designers, as follows: “The clothes all have an element of parallel existences, a real world versus the fairy world, which manifests itself in the combinations of fabrics and the idea of transformation and transition.”   Yes…what he said!  Personally, we loved half of it and hated the other half, so we’re a bit split on this one. What do you guys think? See the full slideshow here.
