“tooth_eye” is a solo project which
stands out for a few reasons but at first glance it’s the visuals.
In the case of “Wave Rape Vol. 2” it’s spliced up imagery of
classic looking young female manga faces showing shock and fear
suggesting that perhaps the use of the word rape in the title isn’t
just a way of expressing the creation process, but the album’s
meaning as well.

This album is made to be disliked. It’s
an ugly mash up of layered cuts that are trippy and often brutal
though feminine. Its most striking feature however is that it’s
uncomfortable. The basic techniques are used well even though the
varied compression of layers threw me off on the first listen in a
few places. Whether this was done intentionally or out of necessity
to get the levels even the result is the same; additional discomfort.
Perhaps the only disappointment is that tracks like “big balls
taint goat” move away from the unease of hectic passages to
awkwardness which seems like thoughtless composition and is more
annoying and drawn out than anything. It’s not enough to detract
from the disturbing nature of the female voice in “grinding that
fucking backstabbing otaku bitch ...” or the low distressed section
through the last half of “idiot tek”.

While the techniques on “Wave Rape
Vol. 2” aren’t particularly interesting, the atmosphere is full
on. It doesn’t resort to the extremes of white noise and pure
volume to achieve its power but instead agitates – acting as a
snuff film and not horror – something truly coarse. Most simply
put; the title “Rape” is apt.

Great review man... I have to disagree with you bout the ballz track, thatz my fave track, but you really hit the nail on the head with the understanding of the sound aesthetic.
