Tony Love was born in Detroit Michigan known as Motown and grew up a half a block away from legendary crooner Marvin gaye. After moving to Kalamazoo with his family Mother & brother Carlos who now serves as President of Tony Love Music Productions Inc. Tony has been playing guitar since he was 5 years old and is self taught he's also taught himself to play bass, drums key's and sings as you will hear on both of his albums available on ITunes. Tony began his career singing lead and background vocals in an already formed Kalamazoo band called "The Mall City Players" which was comprised of co-founders Jerome Edmonson who was the drummer, main Lead and background vocalist & the other co-founding member Ronny Evans, who played lead and rhythm guitar and was also a background vocalist. The other members were Jerome's brother Eugene "Sweet C" Edmonson bassist who also sang lead and background vocals also James Fields on Keyboards lead and background vocals. Tony Love joined the Mall City Players in 1978 after bassist Sweet C saw him playing in another band. The group added Tony Love on lead and rhythm guitar lead & background vocals. This band performed together until 1980 when Tony went to college for a year to study music at Lansing Community College in Lansing where his family eventually moved. After completing a year in college in the summer of 1981 Tony to move to Los Angeles with friend Jody Motley who convinced him that it would be a great place that could provide a way of really getting into the music business. Love would eventually meet many people on that first trip and create an even stronger hunger and determination to make it in the music industry. He returned to Michigan later that year and reformed the group in 1982 Ronny Evans co-founding member of the original Mall City Players took a hiatus to concentrate on his wife and family but continued playing guitar and keyboards and is still a great friend of the band. In 1982 because Ronny was had taken the break out of respect to Ronny the band then changed the to "Fantasy" and also added a horn section which consisted of Bobby Adams on alto saxophone lead & background vocals and Clifford Jones on tenor saxophone lead & background vocals. This unit played together until early 1983 when the band took a hiatus for a few years. The original line up reunited briefly as The Mall City Players again with Ronny back in the group in 1986 and again in 1988 when the band took another hiatus. ...Tony Love eventually moved back to L.A. in 1989 where he met Gail Johnson a accomplished keyboard player, songwriter and vocalist who had toured with Morris Day of the Time and Jermaine Jackson it was there that Tony Love learned about the music business and toured the country with her and Howard Hewett and then later with LL Cool J in 1991 in 1993 Tony Love went out on the road as a guitar tech with the legendary Luther Vandross and did a world tour. After the tour Tony Love moved to Atlanta Georgia and began a 16 year career that started out with the singing group "The Boys" whom Tony met on a return flight from visiting Gail Johnson who gave birth to Tony's 3rd child Tamina Johnson. Tony has 2 other daughters 1st born Ahja and 2nd born Irowali. Papa was a rolling stone all of his children have different mothers and Tony feels blessed to have 3 wonderful daughters....Tony has said, "Being a father is the music business while you are struggling is a hard thing but I'm so grateful for my daughters and I love them with all my heart. Tony Love met and recorded with the artist Akon in December of 1994 and co-wrote the 1st, single entitled "Operations Of Nature" which was released in the summer of 1995, Tony would record with Akon an entire album where Hakim Abdulsamad co-wrote with Tony and Akon 4 other songs, it was recorded at Hit Mecca studio's in the summer of 1995 and Akon did some shows in the Atlanta area to rave reviews the single was received well in the Atlanta area but did not gain traction in the rest of the U.S.A. so the album was never released and remains in the vault. Tony would then continue to play with various bands and continue to do session work until Akon went to jail briefly in 1998 until around 2000 when they two got together to record another co-written song called "Journey" that was recorded in June of 2000. Also that summer Love was introduced producer Sanchez which lead to a fruitful collaboration which would ultimately see them working with the likes of T.I., LL Cool J, Young Jeezy and Trick Daddy over the course of 6 years and it has sustained until this day, Tony has stated, "I've always loved working with Sanchez in my opinion Chez is the best I've worked with in Atlanta and I believe he'll go on to be one of the greatest producers of our time believe it". ...In 2003 Akon inked a deal with SRC records, with a co-deal co-production arrangement with Devyne Stevens who Akon was signed to Devyne's, Upfront records imprint. The song "Journey" that Akon and Tony co-wrote together in 2000 made the album and in the summer of 2004 the debut album called Trouble was released in the US from the strength of strong radio & club play then hot hit single "Locked Up" which had bolted up the billboard charts peaking at #7 on the hot 100 and eventually going platinum the momentum of that started a title wave triggering a chain of hit records for then partner Akon, those hit's included "Lonely", and the hit record he had produced for newly signed Def Jam rap artist "Young Jeezy", that hit record was called "Soul Survivor" which went platinum also and ended up becoming and anthem for Young Jeezy's and to this day was the biggest record for Jeezy to date. Tony & Akon would later combine they're writting efforts once more with newly signed artist signed to Akon's, Konvict/Jive imprint, the artist T Pain. The record was titled "U Got Me", and became Tony's 3rd placement as a writter. The recorded made it onto T Pains debut album "Rappa Ternt Sanga", Which was released September 9th 2005 and went on to become gold on the strength of T Pains major successful singles, I'm Sprung and also "I'm N Luv" (Wit A Srippa) both singles reached multi platinum status selling a combined to sell over 4 million units. ..Tony Love in 2006 co-wrote with the artist "Akon", the smash hit record "Don't Matter, which was released has a single in 2007 and became Akon's highest charting single in his career thus far. The record reached an astonishing #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 in March of 2007 and went on to sell well over 4 million records worldwide. Don't Matter sold 3 million records in the USA. Tony Love won two BMI Urban song writer awards, he won one in summer 2007 and he won another one in May of 2008. These day's Tony Love has reformed his relationship with his favorite production partner the great Mark "Sanchez" Holmes of 730 Beats Productions and the pair are now based in Hollywood California. Sanchez has worked with Tony on the hit single for T.I. entitled A.S.A.P., Sanchez co-wrote it and Produced the gold record and Tony played guitar and bass on that track and another one on the Urban Legend album titled "Praying For Help". ..For a list of other credits go to url: http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:jjfqxq85ldse~T4 were you can find a list of many other records & albums that Tony Love has played guitar or bass on. Wutz been going on?
you are cool
Hope you are having a beautifully blessed day.
Hey how are you? I would like to share my new music with you. Its a Kanye West Style beat.
This beat was inspired by Kanye's 808's & Heartbreak album. I loved how he used non-musical sounds on this album & moved away from the traditional hip hop style of production & composition. This is the approach I have always taken with my music and try to be different from all the other producers in this world. I hope you enjoy this beat and feel inspired by it. Please rate & comment on YouTube as you wish and let me know what you think. Here is the link:
