Like a number of acts that surfaced in 2009 and 2010 -- some of them even sporting names inspired by surf culture (think Best Coast and Beach Fossils) -- the Sundelles sound like they came straight from the beach.
With their shambling, reverb-kissed, Brian Wilson-influenced pop tunes, the Sundelles sport a sound that combines C-86 with surf rock. The group formed in 2008, when frontman Sam Sundos moved to New York City. Sundos teamed up with his buddies Davey Sarantos and Trevor McLoughlin, dubbed the trio the Sundelles, and began playing a string of gigs in N.Y.C. The newly fledged group recorded and self-released its debut 7" single, Dead Youth, in 2010. The Sundelles recorded their debut full-length that same year. Produced by Pere Ubu's Tony Maimone, Georgia Swan was released in 2011. ~ Margaret Reges
