The Office The Opera

About me:

My name’s Anne and I’m a composer. In 2006, I wrote a musical take on the award-winning series "The Office" as a bit of a joke in a bid to lighten up some of the pretentious aspects of my classical composition degree. I called it "The Office: The Opera", and it got a great response, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant even said they "loved" it. This year, due to popular demand, I gave myself two months to compose more music and produce a new longer and better show to raise money for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day. My filmmaker friend Mike Jelves kindly documented my journey with a video camera, and footage of my composing, casting, rehearsing, blood, sweat and tears is available to view on youtube. We performed two sell out shows at Lauderdale House in Highgate, London, and raised over £3500! Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant then used the idea and featured us on their Comic Relief sketch on BBC1. We're planning to take the opera out to the general public this year, so watch this space!
