  • Bio

The Baker Brothers have been rocking dance floors far and wide for nearly 10 years and with 6 albums (and numerous other releases) under their belt they deliver an explosive, killer funk show! Their infectious, raw beats and bass lines underpin edgy melodic section horns and soulful, winding vocals. Their recent release of AVID SOUNDS on Freestyle records has gained critical acclaim by the likes of Mark Lamar, Craig Charles, DJ Muro, Keb Darge and ?uestlove from The Roots. With their 7th tour of Japan at the end of April and a busy summer afoot, The Baker Brothers are fine-tuning their engines. The Baker Brothers consists of a nucleus of drums, bass, guitar and tenor sax, but also work with musicians on trumpet, baritone sax, Hammond organ, percussion and female vocals. We have worked with guests such as Average White Band's Hamish Stewart, Vanessa Freeman of Reel People and UK percussion legend Snowboy. www.thebakerbrothers.com Chris Pedley FOR JAPAN INFO: www.genkibrothers.com

Sounds Like:

Sounds like: a school bus crashing through the window of a music shop! We love gritty funk instrumentals, however, beating our instruments isn't all that matters to us! We find that if you're not moving forwards, you just slide backwards. We didn't collectively make a conscious decision to change direction, but over this past year our sound has evolved organically into something a bit more soulful and song-based. Recent collaborations with vocalist Vanessa Freeman and horn players Paul Young and Paul Jordanous have helped us forge a more refined sound: We've kept it tough though, but put a lot more thought into the writing and the performance........ Whats Japaning!
