  • Our only gig of 2010, Bury St Edmunds Apex, tonight!

    Hi everyone

Firstly, a quick reminder that tonight sees our only gig of 2010; it's a hometown gig at Bury St Edmunds' brand new, shiny and massive venue, The Apex. Also playing are fellow Bury types Tell It To The Marines, Protect The Target, Vida Infra, Mallory Know and Douche Crew. Doors 7pm, full details are in the link below.

We're also having the gig filmed for a future DVD release, so dress slutty and be ready to shake like a pony.

SECONDLY, it gives us great pleasure to announce the arrival of a new member, in the form of our new "extra" guitarist Mr Richard Phillips, who will be bringing a touch much-need of style and class to to proceedings. Richard previously played with us in various line-ups of Miss Black America and The Khe Sanh Approach, and has a very nice guitar. Please help us break him in harshly.

That's, seriously, it. See you tonight!

    Seymour, Mike, Neil and Richard

  • New single out now! + full details of our ONLY gig of 2010

    Hi everyone, have some NEWS:

NEW SINGLE - 'HIDDEN SHALLOWS / THE AIR IS ON FIRE'

After much to-and-fro-ing, braying, hoo-hahing and poo-pooing, our new single is now available to purchase by following the following simple steps:

    1. Go on iTunes, Spotify or any other online music store.
    2. Type in 'Ten City Nation', 'The Air Is On Fire' or 'Hidden SHADOWS' (they've misspelt it, those crazy cats).
    3. Look at the sexy results.
    4. Buy them.
    5. Listen to them.  JUST LISTEN TO THEM.

Both songs are also included as part of R*E*P*E*A*T Records' new Love Music Hate Racism EP, which features 19 songs by 10 bands including Fever Fever, Popular Workshop, Kunk and Glory Glory.  It's very, very cheap and you can buy a physical copy either online via the R*E*P*E*A*T website (www.repeatfanzine.co.uk) or by walking into a record shop and asking the nice people who work in the record shop whether they stock that hoochie-mama.  A cut of all profits from the album (and our single) will be given to Love Music Hate Racism, one of our favourite things to give money to - find out more at www.lovemusichateracism.com

    OUR LAST GIG OF 2010!

We've only got one gig left this year - after that we're going to ground until Spring 2011, when we intend to tear your pretty faces off with our spanking new album.

It's the grand opening of The Apex in our hometown of Bury St Edmunds, which is really big, so we're quite excited, and here are the full details:

Our friend and yours Henry DC Williams will also be filming the gig for his own dark purposes, so be sure to wash behind both ears, put on your Sunday best, shine those dancing shoes and draw cocks on your faces.

    Speaking of Henry...

    TWO EXCITING NEW VIDEOS!

Both of the songs on our new single have attendant videos, directed by Blackheath's answer to Anton Corbijn (only sexier), Henry DC Williams.  You can watch both videos on YouTube, here are what I'm going to call, for the purposes of clarity, the Linky Winky Woos:

    Hidden Shallows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJPalqVjZtE
The Air Is On Fire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJPalqVjZtE

There's also a making-of for Hidden Shallows (directed by Kate Burgess) here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8FGXYcYXcc

In addition to this visual feast, you can watch us recording two new songs for the BBC:

    His Just Reward: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTvL88YmJBQ
    Magnetic West: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do7C2TbWZVo

By the way, in case you were wondering, that guitar noise on 'His Just Reward' is a Boss DD6 Delay pedal with all the controls set to "crivens".

    OTHER NEWS!

Seymour, Mike and Neil used to be in a band called Miss Black America, who were mildly popular in the last decade.  That band now have a proper Facebook page, which is here:

Also, Seymour and former Miss Black America guitarist Mat Anthony are reuniting next Saturday, 9th October 2010 for a John Peel Day gig a London's Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes.  Full details are at the links below:

    P R E S S   R E L E A S E

A year on from the release of their critically-acclaimed second album ‘At The Still Point’, DIY champions Ten City Nation have announced details of a new double-A side single.  ‘Hidden Shallows’/'The Air Is On Fire' will be released in shops and online through R*E*P*E*A*T Records on Monday 20th September 2010.

“The best use of a fuzz pedal we’ve heard this year” – NME on ‘At The Still Point’

'Hidden Shallows' is the first single to be taken from Ten City Nation's third album 'Futures', which was was recorded earlier this year in darkest Suffolk with Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah producer Tom Peters at the helm.

A video for 'Hidden Shallows', directed by Eden Films’ Henry DC Williams, can be viewed on the band’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/tencitynation

“A relentless journey through thundering alternative rock… Ten City Nation could be on to something here.” – Artrocker on ‘At The Still Point’

The single is released as part of the R*E*P*E*AT Records Love Music Hate Racism EP, a 19-track compilation available for the price of a single, alongside 9 other bands including Fever Fever, Popular Workshop and Kunk.  A cut of the profits from the EP, which was conceived and put together by TCN guitarist Seymour and R*E*P*E*A*T Records' head honcho Richard Rose, will be donated to the Love Music Hate Racism campaign, which aims to use the positive energy of the music scene to fight back against the racism and intolerance promoted by organisations such as the BNP.

“Listen closely and you’ll notice the intricacies, layers and attention to detail. TCN understand that subtlety can be a powerful tool, and that makes them a very exciting prospect indeed.” – Rock Sound
