Bio
Mike Grande - Lead Singer Mike Grande has been performing in rock bands since 1982. Years of playing in bars and fairs with local and some notable musicians( Mark Anthony, Kim Fowley - Kiss Alice Cooper and the Runaways and Roger Rogerson - Circle Jerks) playing originals and covers. One night they played Holly Holy at a small club, soon audience members were asking Mike if he ever thought of doing a tribute to Neil. A short time later, Mike gathered together some of the finest musicians in So Cal and accepted the challenge. Jack Ollodort - Drummer Jack O has been playing drums since he was 16 years old. He played in High School and in College bands(marching, percussion ensemble, wind ensemble etc) Jack played in Classic Rock bands in the early days and then played jazz bands for several decades. He also played in Musical Theatre, Latin bands and Church groups. He has studied with Joe Pocaro, Ralph Humpries and Ed Shannessy. Dave Watkins- Dave was born in St. Louis then moved to Chicago. He studied classical piano and in the summer studied with Vivien Bard who was a classical pianist who performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Then his family moved to Yuma, Arizona. His father was a preacher man and his first record was Black Sabbath. Something about those tritones. He played trumpet in the high school marching band and jazz band. Then after moving to the San Fernando Valley to attend CSUN as a music major he got with a working top 40 band, went on the road and quit school. The folks didn't like that one, but he's played on cruise boats, over 50 local broadway show productions, toured for a couple of years on and off with Hank Ballard and Midniters and the world famous Fake Drifters. He currently resides in Simi Valley and teaches music at a private school. He is really enjoying the chemistry in STEEL DIAMOND. "These guys play with a lot of soul. I really dig it man-can you dig it? Yes Dave, we can. Doug MacBeth- Doug has had a diverse musical background from playing in swing big bands to producing local punk bands. In the early 80's, Doug studied at the LA Jazz Workshop learning how to play in big bands with Bill Yeager and Lanny Morgan, later studying bass with Carol Kaye, guitar with Al Viola, piano with Tommy Todd and composing and arranging with Gordon Goodwin. Doug got to play with many performers (Jimmy Rowles,Pete Condoli and Bobby Lyles. Doug played in blues bands with Finus Tasby and Bobby Maxwell. Doug played in LA rock band Hal Negro and the Satintones Doug also played with Caesar Romero, Debbie Reynolds and Andy Garcia -
