COME VISIT MY PAGE, HEAR MY MUSIC, SEE MY PICTURES, AND I HAVE A TREAT FOR YA. WHEN YOU CLICK ON "VIDEOS", YOU'LL SEE MY LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM THE NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL (NYIMF) BACK IN 2004. FEEL FREE TO LEAVE COMMENTS ON MY PAGE AND/OR LEAVE A MESSAGE ON MY VOICE PLAYER. I SINCERELY APLOGIZE FOR THE DELAY, BUT HOPEFULLY YOU'LL COME TO FIND THAT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE. ENJOY!!!! LOVE ALWAYS, SHARON P.S. ONE MORE THING..........GO SPREAD THE WORD. TELL A FRIEND AS THAT FRIEND TELLS ANOTHER FRIEND, AND ANOTHER FRIEND, ETC. ...... When it comes to Sharon's music, she describes it as a combination of R&B, Hip Hop, and Soul. "Basically what I'm saying is that my music includes R&B flava blended with unique hip hop beats along with a touch of soul. I grew up with R&B and Hip Hop and I want the best of both worlds to colide while showing my soulful side through my voice", she says. So who is Sharon? She's smart, beautiful, and most importantly, she's not afraid to use her creativity. As an artist, her voice is strong, beautiful, and sultry. ...... Sharon was born in New York City to immigrant parents from Ghana, West Africa. She is the last one of three children and the only one in the family who's visually impaired. Having a visual impairment makes Sharon different from her older brother, her older sister, and most people in the world. However, despite her visual disability, she enjoys many activities, especially music. At age 7, Sharon performed for the first time at summer camp. To her surprise, the crowd loved her performance. During high school, she was very involved in extra cirricular activities such as being on the track team, the cheerleading team, band (where she was the lead singer), and the school choir. She learned a lot about pitch, harmonizing, etc. Over the years, she listened to almost all kinds of music, but she always knew that her voice was MADE for R&B. Her musical influences, past and present, include Whitney Houston, Karyn White, Tracie Spencer, Shanice, Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, Amerie, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Monica, Ciara, Deborah Cox, Faith Evans, Janet Jackson, Kelly Price, Keyshia Cole, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, and many more. ...... Sharon had many opportunities to sing at numerous talent shows before graduating from high school. Sharon's hunger for performing stayed with her throughout her college years continuing to sing in various talent shows. "When I first started college, no one knew I could sing until I stood on stage at a talent show. After my performance, lots of people approached me telling me how much talent I have. It was definitely a big surprise," she says. During college, Sharon won 1st place at a talent show on campus singing a capella. She also sang at a local talent show in the Bronx in front of a live audience. She auditioned for Urban Idol National Talent Search, Showtime at the Apollo Amateur Night Competition, Jive Records, American Idol, etc. She attended the State University of New York at Old Westbury to study Media & Communications. After graduating from college, Sharon submitted her audition CD to the New York International Music Festival (NYIMF) and was selected to sing at a venue called Opaline located New York City. That same year, she began vocal lessons with Badiene Magaziner, who, in the past, has lended her techniques to artists such as Michael Jackson and Tamia. "It's because of Badiene that I learned so much about Speech Level Singing. I now know that there's a way to use your voice properly." As an amazing result, Sharon's 15 minutes of fame (she sang 3 cover songs) paid off. Her performance impressed the entire crowd and received the .."Best Female R&B Solo".. award. ...... "I would've been happy with being on stage singing again, since that was what I wanted," she says, "but I had no idea that I would win the R&B competition followed by receiving an award. In more ways than one, God has blessed me." Annalisa San Juan, coordinator/organizer of NYIMF, says, "Sharon is a very determined person, but she's sweet at the same time. She really surprised me with her amazing voice. Although she's a small person, her voice is powerful and she has a truly wonderful sound. She's a combination of Whitney Houston and Gospel all wrapped up in one. Sharon's the kind of person you want to see succeed in life. I think that with the right kind of exposure, she has a real future as a professional singer." Sharon says, "I must have spent 4 to 5 months practicing while receiving vocal training. I really wanted to be well prepared for the music festival." After the festival, so much was running through Sharon's mind. "I was so excited about my victory to the point where I was like 'Girl, you need to get back to writing original songs and go to the studio to record.' I was looking forward to continuing on to pursue my dream." And she did just that as 2005 began. A year later, she moved on to a new voice teacher named Amy Mathews. "She's been teaching me new techniques. She's so sweet, flexible, and most importantly, she immediately recognizes my God-given talent." Although Sharon knows that fame and fortune comes with being in the limelight, that isn't the reason why she wants to break into the music business. "Music has played a major role in my life since I was a little kid. I'm so passionate about it. Music is so powerful. It makes me feel all types of emotions. A lot of the songs I listen to reflect certain situations in my lfe somehow. I love music.............I live it..............I breathe it", she says. Sharon is a singer/songwriter whose goals are to represent urban music by making great songs that people can relate to. Other than wanting to record albums and go on tour to perform live on stage, Sharon would also like to write for other artists, do some modeling, appear in commercials, and maybe, just maybe in several years, get into acting in TV & Film. Sharon says, "I can't help it if I'm an ambitious chick hahaha. What do you expect? It's the Capricorn in me." >......This profile was edited with ..MySpace Honey Editor............ Sounds Like
Most of the time, people don't compare me to other artists, so I get the impression that I have a unique sound. Even when I listen to myself, to me, I sound like Sharon all the way through from start to finish.
