    Ruby manslaughter Santa Barbara, Ca. - Ruby Manslaughter started in 2007. In 2008 they began playing shows. They have had a lot of line up changes, but they’ve stayed together though the tough times. The group consists of Ruben Zarate (guitar and vocals, Grant Kramer (drums) and Cheyenne Huerta (bass). Their sound is raising eyebrows everywhere. They are not a typical type of group. They utilize different techniques and definitely have a different sound that your standard pop group. They have more of an independent feel to them. Some of their songs involve acoustic guitar playing that mimics a mandolin and the vocals are very pure. Some of their songs are simple – with the sound of just one voice and one guitar. These songs are beautifully written and beautifully performed. Their new single, “Golden Country” is off of their CD, “Never Change”. Golden Country is what they call Santa Barbara. The story is about a one night stand that evolves into more. This album is not out yet, but will be released sometime in 2009. The songs that they write are mostly about someone or something that has happened to them. And their fans love them! They have played the Ventura Majestic Theater a few times and have also performed from San Francisco all the way to Los Angeles Club Derby. Once the album is completed, they will plan a tour through California. “We hope people enjoy the music. We’ve all worked really hard on these songs and are working even harder to record them and getting heard at shows. We appreciate all the support from everyone. We are three fun loving guys who like to have a good time on and off stage. I’ve been told our vocals are a mix of Damien Rice and some others. We like making catchy tunes.” And we like hearing them, too!
