Roy Gonzalez has long been an icon in the surfing industry’s art and design circles. For over thirty years he has created some of the most definitive and well known images of the industry. From surf comics to surf movie cover art to professional surfing event posters including the Op Pro and prestigious Pipeline Backdoor Shootout, he has long been the standard by which new generation surf artists are measured. His art has not been limited to surfing as he has received acclaim for his snowboard and skateboard graphics, his artwork for Blues and Rock-n-Roll events, and his many CD covers and illustrations depicting stars like Etta James, B.B. King, Snoop Dogg, and Marilyn Manson to name a few. Roy's travels and long residences in Hawaii and Latin America and longtime surfing experience have given him a unique perspective into the global surf culture, its traditions and roots. Currently completing an autobiography and archival collection of his work for publication, Roy continues to work ..ed projects and most recently completed the event poster for the Boost Mobile Open of Surf, held annually at Trestles in his hometown of San Clemente. In addition to the poster, Roy produced caricature illustrations of the top 44 ranked surfers for The Boost Mobile Pro. .. .. ..
