On Friday, 11 February, 2011, broadcaster, Alan Clifford, played a brand new double 'A' single at BBC Radio Nottingham. On Monday, 14 February, 2011, Alan Clifford played it again. It was by Bobby Melody. He dedicated it to his wife.* Yes, this is an update on Bobby Melody's autobiography. I heard that the thanksgiving service for Bobby was swimming with sharks. I could not get to his funeral because at such short notice, an idiot had put forward a cliched suggestion that there should be a live memorial show at Bobby's wake. Funny coming from someone who had deserted Bobby's last-ever gig. And in front of Bobby's face boasted, in a quote: "I can destroy you." And for the rest? An opportunity to plug their CDs to a huge audience with the free use of Bobby's band, Roots Vibration. How the faces of the vocalists and that collective of local reggae performers taking part dropped when they had to perform songs from Bobby's compilation: 'The Greatest Hits Vol One'! Afterwards, they left his widow to carry his PA and live musicial instruments all the way home. Never be down-hearted, Julie, just remember, Bobby loves you. Bobby Melody will talk about her to his best friend, Haile Selassie - To avoid confusion, he is the one who is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords. And the conquering lion of the Tribe of Judah. Bobby Melody is better off with him than some of the talentless leeches crying crocodile tears. Bobby once said: "Though they try to affend me, they'll never get away." Yeah. They'll never get away. Bobby Melody is born in Jamaica. The parish of Trelawny. He has been recording for over 40 years. His career started while he was playing his guitar (the wrong way round) for the wannabees of his genaration, who were queing up, outside a studio, in a situation similar to the scene in the Jimmy Cliff film, 'The Harder They Come'. That day went by without the producers finding anyone who could sing. So they decided that Bobby might as well have a go. He was signed. Bobby Melody was discovered while he was minding his own business, singing and playing his guitar in a field. Passer-bys would love the numbers he would write and perform. One of his admirers introduced himself as Peter Tosh. And introduced Bobby to his friends. Bobby Melody would record music then go around the island selling them successfully. With the contacts he now know, Bobby's recording productions would include names like, Lee Perry, Toot and The Maytals, Joe Gibbs, Ansel Collins, Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespear, Banaba just to name a few whether these people are at King Tubbys Studio, or Studio One. Bobby was taking a break from one of his recording sessions and took a walk on a beach. He could see a future for him. He didn't know what it was, but it felt good. He got his pen out and started writing. Back in the studio he recorded what he had just wrote. 'Perception - Chana, Chana'. Of course he has good times, and another one of his songs refected that: 'Best Dress'. What Bobby Melody did not know at the time was, that his records were being bought by people outside Jamaica. Because his recordings were on his own label(s) -ie: Hi Rock, they would not register on an official record sales chart countdown in other countries, but would be heard at almost any party that was going. 'Jah Bring I Joy' playing after Bob Marley and The Wailer's 'One Love' in the same club. It has happened. Bobby Melody's song was inspired by BB Seaton's 'I Bring I Joy'. 'Jah Bring I Joy' became a No1 for Bobby Melody in Jamaica. And BB Seaton was happy for him. They became good friends. As well as recording and performing with a band, Bobby Melody performed around Jamaica as part of a sound system -Black Scorpio. In 1990, it went on tour in England. On the Nottingham leg, he met someone called Julie. And married her. Bobby Melody continued his live work and now based himself in the East Midlands part of England, hiring muscians whenever they were available. He would perform in europe, or various festivals in England. It is all going well. His marrige that is. It is performing in a band which needs working on. He makes a decision. Form his own band. Bobby Melody wanted to do this since he first started music. But so did his friends. They were too busy recording records like, 'Double Barrel', 'Money In My Pocket', 'Get Up Stand Up' and the rest. Trouble was, the session musicians Bobby Melody had hired for his gigs had decided that they can play his music better than him or his friends did on his records, which was not the case. They would only give him one chord rhythms to sing over, and would only learn one of his numbers; 'Jah Bring I Joy' -in the wrong key. Over the years the band of session musicians he'd performed his songs with would have a name. Finally, Bobby Melody got himself a band. He gave it two special names. Firstly, 'Corner Stone'. Then, 'Roots Vibration'. The main picture on this MySpace is a video still from Tuesday, 28 August, 2007. Of Bobby Melody. It was filmed at The Meadows Club, a functions room at Notts County Football Club, Meadow Lane, Nottingham, England. It was organised by a fraudulent organisation called the Nottingham Universal African Caribbean Network (NUACN). It had secured the Notts County venue, by claiming full credit for a very successful show which took place on Friday, 22 December, 2006 at 'Bar None!', a music venue on Stoney Street, in The Lace Market, Nottingham, England. That show was organised entirely by Bobby Melody, in association with Alan Simon King; owner of 'Bar None!'. After using Bobby as a referee to enable the Notts County show to be staged, NUACN led him to believe that his set would headline the night. He was asked to sack his band. Bobby arrives at The Meadows Club. With his band, Roots Vibration. In a vain attempt to prevent Bobby Melody from performing that night, a collective of local reggae performers continued a semi-acoustic set for an extra hour, to the groans of the audience. (Their own fans.) How many times can a compare say, 'Do you want to hear some more'? 15 minutes past midnight, (15 minutes past closing time,) Bobby Melody starts his set with his protegees, and his band. It was worth waiting for. Bobby Melody stepped onto the stage. The local reggae performers started a mass walkout. The compare did his worse to ruin Bobby Melody's opening instrumental number by attempting a 'freestyle'. The compare was quickly removed from the microphone and replaced. Another idiot ordered the hired PA company to stop the video taping of the night -sorry, morning. These Bob Marley rejects did not respect what Bobby Melody is trying to create. This was meant to be an event to commemorate the abolition of the slave trade. Yet they wanted Bobby Melody to be THEIR slave. It soon became clear as crystal that Bobby Melody will never do a live 10-minute show again. It would be longer. Which is lot more than NUACN would achieve. The so-called organisation had its funding for the community withdrawn. In 2009 Bobby Melody decided that he wanted to record again. Using his band -now even better, Roots Vibration. On Thursday, 21 May 2009, Bobby Melody was interviewed at the studios of BBC Radio Nottingham in England, on a drivetime show, and gave its presenter, Alan Clifford the first play of 3 of his brand new recordings: 'What's The Agenda', 'Woman Wipe The Tear From Your Eyes', and 'Little Miss Claudie'. On Sunday, 24 May 2009, alongside his famous songs, Bobby Melody performed them at The Maze, a live music venue in Nottingham, England. His fans love them. And the show. On Thursday, 23 July, 2009, rastafarian organisation, The Twelve Tribes of Israel, were having trouble oganising their annual event. Their regular musicians could not do it. At the last minute, Bobby Melody was invited by The Twelve Tribes of Israel, to bring his show to their HQ, on 232 Claremont Road, Moss Side, Manchester, in England. So last minute, that it was not mentioned on this MySpace. The organisation's original plan was to provide Bobby Melody with a band of their choice. But Bobby Melody's band impressed them. On Sunday, 1 November, 2009, Bobby Melody's 'Melo Mix Promotions' took over a daft promotion called 'Reggae,Reggae Sauce', (nothing to do with Levi Roots or Peter Jones), which was meant to have staged Bobby Melody's show on that date at The Maze, a venue which Bobby Melody had played before. The sudden change of administration worked. 'View Pics'. In between doing the odd shows, Bobby Melody is in the middle of mixing his new recordings, which will be part of an LP, which he plans to complete soon. On the internet, some of the images of Bobby Melody are fake. The images on this Roots Vibration MySpace, features The Original Melody -Bobby Melody. Born George Vincent Hanson.
