Born in the late 70’s, Raymond “PlayBroke” Overton was exposed to a generation of music and crime.
As an only child he looks at the neighborhood hustlers as being his siblings. Having a love for music by 1990 he would start writing lyrics. By the time he reached tenth grade he put aside rapping to get fast money. Dedication to the game would only put him one step closer to destruction. Losing numerous friends and family members to drugs had PlayBroke thinking twice about his street dreams. After years of hustling he decided to go to college and make a career out of music. Around the same time he would become a major part of a local rap group known as C.P.T.. The group won a contest given by a local radio station, and they were on their way to being big time. At least that’s what they were told by a Chattanooga based record label. Traveling from city to city performing in front of small crowds gave PlayBroke a small taste of his dream of being a rap star. After a show in Atlanta the record label disappeared as well as hope for the group. Knowing that being alone makes you strong PlayBroke left the group to concentrate on a solo career. With a gift to paint pictures with words it was easy to build a local fan base. Nowadays with music being his main focus, this Music City M.C. is destined to reach the top. He often says “You can’t stay on the bottom forever, so I’ll see you at the top!
