Bio
ASCAP award winning songwriter and recording artist, Paul Ritchie would like to extend an invitation to share some his musical compositions with you as well as information about his musical influences and experiences. Paul Ritchie, vocalist on one of Cunard's newest additions to it's fleet, Queen Victoria, has traveled world wide entertaining audiences including U.S. Armed Forces in Central America, five star hotel resorts throughout Japan and was most recently featured on Avon Cosmetic's Holiday CD 'Celebrate The Season!' The Washington Post writes...'Paul Ritchie's style is debonair'.... Bill Miller, maritime author and historian comments on his visit to QM2... 'Paul Ritchie is a superb talent and fine performer'. Finally, Will Friedwald author of 'SINATRA! The Song is You' writes... 'Great hearing Paul Ritchie... The Best is Yet to Come!' Influences
Dear Guests to Paul Ritchie's MySpace: The most obvious influences to my musical styles were the legendary vocalists of the Big Band Era and the MGM Musicals. Legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Al Jolsen, Perry Como, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Rosemary Clooney, Peggy Lee all influenced my style of singing with their vocal phrasing as well as their physical and emotional delivery of the song. Later artists such as Johnny Matthis, Andy Williams, Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, Bette Midler, The Carpenters also contributed to my vocal catalog of presentation as they also have been influenced by the Great American Song Book. The 1980s brought on a new category of music called Contemporary Christian Music which fans, including myself and industry professionals have to thank the lovely Amy Grant for it's existence. Amy, whom I've met several times really encouraged me and others in their christian walk thru her music. Amy made 'Christianity Cool' and because of her music, many found a new hope in their lives. Other artists such as Sandi Patti, Michael W. Smith, Steve Green, Larnelle Harris, Keith Green, The Gaithers and the great Hymn writers we are all blessed by your musical contributions. Thank you so very much! Paul Ritchie ........ .... -
Sounds Like
Working on Cunard's Queen Victoria I sing quite a bit of the classic music including Big Band, Musical Theatre and Easy Listening. Having listened to Sinatra, Al Jolsen, Nat King Cole, Barry Manilow, Harry Connick Jr., Michael Buble', Neil Diamond,.... I would imagine many musical elements of their singing have absorbed into my 'soul' as it were and if you were to catch one of my performances you may see or hear the essence of one of these legendary performers or I can only hope that you do. Sincerely, Paul Ritchie
