Stars & Snakes
Current mood:
its late at night and i'm obsessively working on a bunch of new tracks that slowly but surely are growing into what will be a full length NWR album... working title (based on one of the new songs) has been "Stars & Snakes" for a while now, and last week I thought of a photo shoot that Javi had done of me with my pythons earlier this year. Stars & Snakes ! ! ! perfect images for that title ;)
enlightened
I miss my pythons. Well they never were mine, but i babysat them for quite some time, close to half a year i think. Not a pet person, way afraid of anything bearing the smell of commitment, but the snakes had won my heart. Beautiful creatures. Very cat-like, super sensual. And yes, they did sleep with me in bed most of the time. They liked to snuggle. And when they behaved I took them to art shows or the beach.
So the new tracks are very much influenced by all the recent live shows and jams with Daniel Yasmin, haven't tracked any drums for all the new demos yet, but already stoked to get there... Well that's the holiday plan for me. Getting as much as possible done on "S&S". Currently still focusing mostly on throwing new material together, trying different ideas. Tweaking or fine-tuning anything is still quite a ways off.

MILK at the Pacific Design Center
Current mood:
So i get a package this morning from focus films, containing an oscar screener for Gus Van Sant's new biopic "Milk". No Way, there we had been dealing with rush hour traffic last night @ 7pm, hitting the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, for a free editors guild screening of ....Milk.... hoping for free food (or at least ...milk!..) too, but only got a free Q&A with the editor.... who was actually pretty cool (and looked young!! damn wheres my big break again?)
catalyzed
long story short, I am glad we went for the free-film bait and headed out of our venice-comfort zone last night, as the PAcific Design Center (which hosted the screening ) is a trip! Super cool photo shoot location! Sort of a real fancy high end mall, everything kinda futuristic, and cheesy at the same time. I love LA, we got the weirdest places. So Kristi and I starting scouting out the place, with security guards peacefully watching us, i wish i would have brought a real camera, but we had some fun with her lil' digi-thing.
and btw, Milk is a great film. I cried and laughed, very moving. good glimpse into the revolution of the Castro of the 70ies. Civil liberties.....need more movies on that...
reminded me a bit of Battle in Seattle, but i expect this to get more exposure and rattle more people up... at least one would hope so.
(and i'm dying to pull out the van sant classics drugstore cowboy & private idaho... its been way too long)
