  • Update From the Road: Chris Lollis

I heard something about you being “detained” in Munich on your way to Warsaw for the first show of the European tour. What happened?

Chris: After 8 ½ hours on the flight from Charlotte, NC to Munich, I made a quick stop to use the restroom.
When I was washing my hands I set my bag next to me on the counter...and keep in mind this is a VERY important bag...Passport, everything crucial to my existence, etc.
As I’m washing my hands, someone grabbed by bag and quickly walked out of the bathroom with it.  I follow him and start to yell and say "What the fuck, give me back my bag!" The guy starts to walk faster saying nothing at first, so naturally I give chase and put a death lock hand grip on MY bag. The guy then starts to shout "No this is my bag!" to which I reply “You’re a fucking lunatic!” His only response from this point on is to say over and over "no this is my bag!"

After a three to four minute tug-a-war match in the airport mixed with various “fuck you’s” and physical threats, I felt a surprisingly strong force pushing me to the ground, as if gravity had just doubled on the earth. I then have my hands forced behind my back by a German authority wielding a fully automatic machine gun.

I told them about the douche bag that tried to steal my bag, but at this point I may as well have been talking directly to the floor, in which my face was firmly planted.

They took us both to a detainment/interrogation room on the other side of Munich airport.
After about twenty minutes of us two individuals (handcuffed to the chairs we were sitting on) snarling at each other like two chained rabid dogs, the straight faced emotion barren guard put him in another room. Finally after a few hours a  suited man enters the room with my passport and questions me on why I’m in Munich Germany, to which I sarcastically reply "Well I’m not here to steal fucking bags". After about another twenty minutes of this garbage the man says I’m free to go.

The other guys in the band have no idea any of this is going on, they just know that I disappeared in the airport and never got on the connecting flight to Warsaw.

When they let me go (escorted out by an armed guard), I got on another flight, and finally met up with the band in Poland one hour before the bus was to leave for the first show of our six week European tour....A bathroom trip I won’t soon forget...
  • Update From the Road: George Kollias

“Hello from Nile everybody, we are currently on tour in Europe on a great tour and there are so many things happening….Crowd is killer every night, we meet most of you out there and we have a killer time!

A few days ago something funny happen, or actually something scary…..but ended up funny. Our trailer with our whole gear got disconnected from our bus and we lost it in the middle of the highway! This could have been the end of the tour but our bus drivers saved the day….Also, 2 days ago one of our bus wheels broke (see video at Nile Bus Breaks Down... Again) and we were about to cancel the show but we still made it……….It seems nobody can stop this tour!!!

Hope to see you all there, come to see Nile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- George Kollias, NILE”
