Playing a style of electronica dubbed "indietronica" by the press, Ms. John Soda began as a solo project for Couch keyboardist Stephanie Böhm.
She was soon joined by Notwist and Tied + Tickled Trio bassist Micha Acher. Ms. John Soda finds the two Weilheim, Germany, musicians seamlessly collaborating (Böhm takes vocals, while Acher moves to programming) to produce a very lush sound that won them fans on both sides of the Atlantic. The duo broke into the scene in 2002 with their record No P. or D. on Morr Music, a German electronica label, and in 2003 came out with a five-song EP, While Talking. In 2006, Ms. John Soda released the full-length album Notes and the Like. After a long break of almost a decade, the band returned with a new album for Morr Music titled Loom. Released in late 2015, the record featured contributions from two new bandmembers, drummer Thomas Geltinger (Couch) and multi-instrumentalist Cico Beck (Aloa Input). ~ Marisa Brown
