日本を代表するJAMBAND＝BIGFROGのオリジナルメンバーであったManabu＆KEIJIを中心に2002年に結成。MAJESTIC CIRCUSというのは、元はManabuのオーガナイズするイベント名であったが、やがてそれがBAND名になった。初期はメンバーも流動的で、 現在の7人のラインナップになったのは2003年。 MJCの魅力はなんといってもLIVEにある。それは、観客との旅ともいえる壮大なショウにある。7人の放つ音は、まるでサーカスを見ているようにさえ感じるのだ。 時にファンキーで熱く、また時にはまったくどこへ行くのか分からない、トンネ ルに迷いこんだようなインプロヴィセーションをしたかと思えば、春の夜風のような流麗で爽やかなジャムを繰り広げたりと、観客の心を引き込み、そして未知の旅へと連れていく。 楽曲は、ロックであったり、ワールドミュージックであったり、様々な音楽的要素が含まれているが、メッセージはシンプルである。 「楽しむこと」 。 素直に音を楽しむこと、そしてその感覚を日常に組み込むこと。それは、かつてメンバーがGrateful DeadやPHISHのショウで経験した感覚そのものである。 MJCの音楽の奥深さは、メンバーそれぞれの「旅の経験」がつまっている事を感じさせる。 是非MJCの音楽を体験してほしい。バンドと共に音の旅に出発すると、日常のストレスも溶かされていくことであろう。
○Member 大半のオリジナル曲をコンポーズするギタリスト、Manabu（Mabee）は2001年にグラミー賞を受賞した世界的な音楽家、喜多朗のサポート・メンバーとして活動の場を世界に拡げている。またギター＆ヴォーカル担当のKeijiと共に日本のジャムバンドの元祖、ビック・フロッグのオリジナル・メンバーであった。 在籍時にはアメリカの伝説的バンド、Phishをはじめ、moe.、Little Feet、 Merl Saundersらの来日公演でオープニングアクトを努めている。 パーカッションのAkaza（Gen）の、多岐にわたるラテンパーカッショニストとしての活動の中の一部には、自身の参加するバンド、サルビアやカメルーンの音楽大使、 ワッシービンセントのサポートなどがある。持ち前のラテン気質で、MJCのサウンドをより明るいものにしている。 ゲストヴォーカルのNaoは、その清涼感のある特徴的な声を生かし、自身のヴォーカルがメインのユニットYoLeYoLeでの活動や、さまざまなバンドへのゲスト参加なども頻繁に行っている。 さらに2006年夏に加入した新ベーシストMockは、弱冠23才ながらそのサウンドセンスと揺ぎ無いテクニックを武器にMJCの新たなSOUND　MAKERとして一目を置かれる存在となっている。 こうしたメンバーの多彩な音楽性や個性が絡み合って今のMajestic Circusの音楽は成立しているのだ。 いわゆるJAMBANDと呼ばれている音楽シーンを大きな流れへと導くのに必要不可欠な存在となるに違いない。

Formed around Mabee and Keiji, original members of Japan’s first jamband “Big Frog”, Majestic Circus was founded in 2002. Originally being a name for an event organized by Manabu, Majestic Circus soon became the name of the band. In the beginning members were still fluctuating before the present constellation of 7 musicians took place in 2003. Majestic Circus’ magic, after all, may best be found in their live appearances in which they go on an amazing trip together with their audience. The sound those 7 people produce on stage truly reminds one of a circus unleashed. Sometimes hot and funky and sometimes floating in an open space where you don’t know where they go, just when it seems they’re stuck in a no way out improvisation, a fresh jam, gentle like a spring nightwind might unfold, winning the audience’s heart and taking them along on a trip to the unknown. While different musical styles like rock and world-music meet in their songs, the message always comes down to which seems to be the most important: “HAVE FUN!” Simply enjoy the music and transport this feeling back to your daily life. This is what the members took from their experiences at Grateful Dead or Phish shows and the depth of Majestic Circus’ music reflects these experiences of every single member. Once you hear them, they got you and daily life’s stress might dissolve as you depart with them for this journey of sound.

Members: Manabu (Mabee) who’s responsible for the band’s most original compositions reached for the world when he joined internationally acclaimed and Grammy winning artist Kitaro as his tour guitarist. Furthermore, together with Keiji (g, voc), he was an original member of Japan’s first jamband “Big Frog” which opened for such legendary American bands like Phish, moe., Little Feat and Merl Saunders when those bands played Japan. Akaza (Gen), in his role as a complex, edge-crossing Latin-percussionist, played with bands like Salvia and Kamerun’s musical ambassador Vincent Wouassi, Jr. Now his Latin flavour brings a certain brightness to the band. Singer Nao (as Guest Singer from 2007. She used to be memmber. ) is the fresh, reviving female voice. She also has her own acoustic project YoleYole and performances with other bands happen from time to time. Last but not least and joining in the summer of 2006, new bassist Mock, only 23 years young, with his incredible sense for sound and amazing technique already catches glimpses as the band’s new sound maker. The diversity of the members’ backgrounds finally weaves together Majestic Circus’ astonishing music. They are a core-element of the so-called jamband-scene, and, taking this role, will help to establish it – for sure.
