The inherent abilities of the visually striking and fiercely talented American actor Luis Alba, who was born on April 15th, 1981 in Hollywood, Florida, have been appreciated by a more international audience of late as his rise to stardom continues. L.A. has been claimed by countless around the world including others in the A-list celebrity level as a prominent member of the future stars of Hollywood.
Born Luis Andres Alba, his first name pronounced "Lewis" in English and "Luis" in Spanish. Raised in Miami / Coral Gables, Florida, he is known by several nicknames such as "BigLou", "Louis Andre", and "The Phenom", which was donned by childhood friend Tony "T-LO" Lopez. In the industry however, he is mainly referred to as "L.A." when not being addressed formally. Luis Alba is six feet tall, maintains a lean-muscular physique, and has brown hair and brown eyes. A few of his most eminent on-film attributes that have been widely regarded, is his commanding camera energy and presence. Undeniably when on screen, most of the attention shifts in his direction as stated by many in the industry who know of him. The fortunes of possessing his physique lead L.A. to work exclusively with Perry Ellis International, Inc. in Miami, Florida as their primary male fit-model. This accomplishment at the age of 20 resulted in phenomenal experience and unique exposure within the world-renowned clothesline. L.A. incorporates personal fitness as a part of his everyday life along with a wide variety of consistent and healthy dietary regiments. He is an athlete of many sports which include but are not limited to: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Racquetball, Softball, Volleyball, Swimming, Martial Arts, Boxing, Kickboxing, and Scuba Diving.
L.A. was discovered on the beaches of Miami in the summer of 2000 at the age of 19 when a local Miami Beach model and talent agent approached him about his looks for the industry. Since then, L.A. has managed to work with various model and talent agencies throughout South Florida. Alba's roots are Cuban by his mother and Dominican by his father. He speaks English and Spanish fluently and both in a wide array of accents. Another attribute that provides L.A. with a broader scope of work is that he is by nature an extremely versatile performer. His range as an actor is considered to be his greatest strength next to his already established commanding camera energy and presence. Alba, the man, is far removed from most of the characters he has portrayed on-screen, but his chameleon-like ability to become many men is what distinguishes him from his peers. L.A. takes great pride and perseverance in transforming into his roles throughout every possible facet of detail. Luis Alba has an extremely profound passion for his craft in acting and entertainment which in turn envelop him in his path. His networking capacity reached new heights when on December 28, 2009 at the age of 28, was chosen to begin work as a security officer at the #2 ranked nightclub in the world known only as "LIV" at the historic Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida. While there, he immediately requested to work the exit of the world-famous nightclub where he met and passed his business card to many of the greats of Hollywood including Academy Award-winning actor Cuba Gooding, JR. in the process. He dubbed himself "The Exit Man" and held the position at LIV through most of 2010. L.A. is the oldest of three children. He has one sister who majored in Marketing from Florida State University, who now works for a firm in Miami, and one brother who served in the United States Marine Corps, who is now pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. His father, Dominican born, majored in Electrical Engineering and his mother, Cuban born, majored in Nursing, both from the University of Miami. L.A. is currently involved with several productions ranging from feature films to major modeling opportunities. Luis Alba is single and has no children but expresses the interest in starting a family with the right woman at the proper time. In the meantime, L.A. is busy enjoying his craft with the relentless intent to push the limits to how elite of an actor he can be. "The Three D's" as he calls them: Dedication, Discipline, and Drive are what this artist is truly about. Luis Alba lives by two quotes: 1.) "When You Do What You Love, You Don't Work a Day in Your Life." 2.) "The Only Failure in Life is Not Trying."
