A little bit about me: Apart from being an official Myspace Curator, I worked as a free-lance music journalist for several publications online and in print (AMP Magazine, and more.) I currently work for Century Media Records focusing on marketing and product management. I also hold special events and do club promotions.

I just recently started a brand new project called Hollywood Waste

EXPLOIT THE SCENE Blog Collection

EXPLOIT THE SCENE is a sarcastic and playful column to bring some sense back into the alterative music culture known as "the scene." The idea behind the column was created from years of frustration of being a fan and loving the music, while being surrounded by a rock scene of fakes set to popularize and destroy what the music originally stood for. I took the step into the industry side of the rock scene and after years of music journalism (REDEFINE MAGAZINE, AMP Magazine, Hails & Horns, etc.) and literally hundreds of shows, I decided it was time to stop ignoring all the bullshit clouding the scene, gather my resources – and exploit what the rock world has become.

When I wrote these I aimed to be a walking contradiction to the scene; even the name “Kyle Kore” was created years ago as a cliché statement to point out the obnoxious reoccurrence of Myspace name-alliteration and the overuse of “xcorex” wherever you can fathom it. (Clearly we’re all a huge group of brutal troubled hardcore kids, right?) This is a huge scene of followers and it’s only fitting that someone point it out.

Thankfully Mishmash Magazine gave me the opportunity to create a platform to do just that, and ream all the popular fads, the fabricated lifestyles, the Myspace obsessed world of angled pictures and “n00dz,” and the over-population of shitty bands while diving deep into the psyche of the kids that are giving the rest of us a bad name. Well, as deep as they go anyway. The topics are meant to be taken lightheartedly and are written for a varied audience. Everyone gets thrown under the bus here, including me. The scene is full of mindless sheep (refer to the “sheep shoot” in the photo section for a literal interpretation of all these Myspace sluts and garage bands following the lifestyle.)

My hopes for the column are to give everyone a chance to laugh at themselves and their surroundings; to stop people from taking themselves so seriously as being the stereotyped hardened depressed “bisexual” “suicidal” “vegetarian” (and whatever other adjective they can manage to tag on) just because the Myspace society tells you it’s what is expected. Laugh at yourselves – I certainly am. Again, welcome. I would love to hear from you! Feedback of all kinds of very much appreciated. It’s hard to reply to all the messages and comments but know that I read them all and take everything into consideration. Follow me on Twitter to talk to me directly.

I would also like to thank everyone who has been in support of the “Kyle Kore” progression and has believed in the EXPLOIT THE SC ENE project. Without you guys I wouldn’t have anyone to talk shit with. Enjoy kids!

     Hello there!

    I hope life’s treating You fine…

I just uploaded ‘ID part 3; DARK MAZE OF THE LIBIDO’! It’s not exactly Schubert but it’s PERFECT for playing video games under influence. Anything that affects the central nervous system should do… except anti-psychotics. If You are currently on these, You might consider skipping one. What’s the worst thing that could happen? The end of mankind? Well… that’s exactly the worst thing that could happen. So, do evaluate Your level of access to weapons of mass destruction beforehand and proceed accordingly, PLEASE.

I hope You’ll enjoy the piece. Your comments are, as always, welcome and much appreciated…

I wish You all the best!

    Peace and love,
    Basil.

P.S. Under the circumstances I would like to humbly dedicate my composition to the people of Cyprus who are being blatantly robbed by domestic and international gangsters.
