About Going Under Ground

Going Under Ground is a 4-piece band from Okegawa, Saitama Prefecture that played their first live shows in the spring of 1998. After building up a strong fan base, they released their first mini album, Cello, via independent label DNA Cupsules. They undertook two national tours in spring 1999, as well as making appearances at numerous events. Later that year, their second mini album, Shishunki no Blues, was released on September 23rd as the first recording from producer Kenji Ueda’s label, "John?".
In October 1999, in conjunction with their own production company, Aqua Music Products, Going Under Ground established Sunnyside, a self-owned record label. The band’s first maxi single, Sakura ga Saitara, was released via this label on April 12th, 2000. They followed this up with their debut full-length album, the self-titled Going Under Ground, on May 24th, as well as two singles: Romantic Kaido on September 3rd, 2000, and Arrow on March 10th, 2001.
Due to their constant touring and dedication to their craft, their debut major-label single, Graffiti, was released on June 21st, 2001.
In 2005, the song “Stand by Me” was used in a Mitsuya Cider commercial, gaining the band widespread exposure. Following the final show of their 2008-2009 “Lucky Star” tour at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall on April 18th, 2009, keyboardist Yoichi Ito left the band, marking a new start for Going Under Ground as a 4-piece group.
After moving to production company Pony Canyon’s record label, they released the maxi single Listen to the Stereo!! in May 2010. Their first release for the label, the single was produced by Toru Hidaka of Beat Crusaders.

埼玉県桶川市出身の４人組。
1998年春に、初めて都内のライブハウスに出演。その後着実に支持を集め、1998年12月にインディーズレーベルDNA CUPSULESより、ファーストミニアルバム『Cello』をリリースする。
1999年春までに2度の全国ツアーを敢行し、全国の様々なイベントに声がかかるようになる。
この年9月23日に、ファーストのサウンドプロデューサーである上田ケンジ氏のレーベル『John？』の第一弾作品としてセカンドミニアルバム『思春期のブルース』を発売、10月には自分たちの事務所 aqua music products、 レーベル sunnyside を設立。
2000年4月12日には、その sunnyside から初のマキシシングル『桜が咲いたら』をリリースする。
5月24日に初のフルアルバム『GOING UNDER GROUND』をリリースし、その後も9月3日に『ロマンチック街道』、翌年3月10日に『アロー』をリリース。全国主要都市ライブツアーの実施等、精力的な活動を展開する中、2001年6月21日にシングル『グラフティー』にてメジャーデビュー。
2005年にリリースされた『STAND BY ME』は三ツ矢サイダーのオリジナルCMソングで話題となり、ロングヒットとなる。2009年4月18日、日比谷野外大音楽堂でのtour 2008-2009“LUCKY STAR”ファイナル公演をもって、キーボード・伊藤洋一が脱退。メンバー４人での再スタートを切る。
所属レコード会社をポニーキャニオンへ移籍し、2010年5月、プロデューサーにBEAT CRUSADERSのヒダカトオルを迎えたレーベル移籍第１弾シングル「LISTEN TO THE STEREO!!」をリリースする。
