Okay to be fair I just nearly said "it's funny isn't it, how 2 Shirazes taste so different". Did stop myself half way through.. but still...

  4. Fyfe Dangerfield

Greig literally just said "Shall I go and lay some grooves down then?" he did instantly apologise and baulk in shame.. But still.. JAZZ.

Thanks for the add. I think my ears are in love with the sound of your voice and piano playing especially on "Barricades" - joining Mark Knopfler on guitar and John Deacon of Queen on Bass in the eargasms from music.

Hopefully see you and the Guillemots in concert in Edinburgh for the Edge Festival in August.

.. .. ...... Hello. Electronic champagnes all round, doctor. Welcomes, greetings, big ups, this is my MySpace. It always seems a bit strange writing down such messages on a computer screen when there's not anyone there in front of you, but such is the blithely surreal way of 21st century life. .... Anyhow, I'm Fyfe and thank you for finding your way here. The main thing to say presently is this - I have my first "solo" record coming out in January 2010, it's called "Fly Yellow Moon" and it has 10 songs on it. A lot of the record was recorded in 5 days just before last Christmas (in an amazing little studio called Urchin, in the same building where we recorded the first Guillemots E.P), with my friend and wizard Adam Noble in charge of the recording space station - a job he performed with love at breakneck speed. .... Some songs stayed completely acoustic and bare, while others quickly transformed into something more - what's the word - irradescent / iridescent (which spelling?), helped hugely by two fantastic drummer friends of mine - Matt Ingram and Jamie Morrison - who happened to be around and both sprinkled non-literal gold-dust wherever they might beat. We had such fun, and about half the album we ended up with is mixes that we took home in that first week. The songs didn't seem to need any more polishing - we tried once or twice and it was like adding butter to cornflakes. So we took off the butter and let them be. .... Over the coming months, we went back in for the odd session and put down a few newer songs, added strings to few tracks, and even mixed two songs with Bernard Butler, which was nice. And then we were done and just had to choose ten songs out of the twenty-five or so we'd recorded - which was the hardest part as I'm awful at making decisions. But we got there in the end and off went the record to what I think is called the pressing plant, to be manufactured into "promos", which are promotional copies of the album, given out to people in the music business, and your friends and parents. That's a little insight into the world in which I work for you. .... So now here we are, and that's the story. It won't win any prizes but it's the truth. Shortly, you'll be able to pre-order the album on this website, and I'm also really excited to say that there's going to be a special box-set edition, also available exclusively by pre-order through - yes, this website - which will contain, amongst other things, a bonus disc with another load of songs from the same recording sessions. I'm just as attached to, and happy with, all these songs as the ones that ended up on the album, so I'm really glad these are coming out too. Half of them are completely acoustic, and the rest are all quite different, including one song where - get this - we use auto-tune on the voice at one point. It's a radical idea, but one which I think could end up becoming quite the fad. I do like to think of myself as a trendsetter. .... Right, well, I have as usual digitally mumbled on and on, and now I must go. One thing about this website (which has been put together by the good people at Ten4 Design) - if there's a few sections on here that are currently rather, or in fact completely empty, there is a reason for this. The reason is that this is a new website and there's nothing to put in them yet. Let me give you an example. There are currently no gigs listed in the live section. This is because we haven't yet finalised where or when the first gigs are going to be. Now, I could just make some gig dates, and invent some venues and ticket lines, but ultimately that would be a waste of time for both me and for anyone that then decided to contact said venues / ticket lines, only to find they didn't exist. There's no two way about it, it would be an utter waste of time. So instead, we'll just put up the gigs when we've actually confirmed them. That is the way we roll. .... And finally. IF you sign up and become a member of this website, and give us all your personal details to the extent that we will - using this information - be able to create and nail a hologram of you to our wall at night to watch over us as we sleep (I'm using the royal we here) then we will in return give you a free download, a little dram of music to keep you quenched until January. It's the first track on the album, and was, it's safe to say, one of the most enjoyable to record. I'd maybe drunk a wee bit too much Costcutter wine by the time it came to record the vocals, but hell, I'm a rock and roll star. dude, I could out-drink Richards if I chose to. Anyway, this is one of those rough mixes that stayed just as it was - we liked it fine that way and hope you do too - it's called "When You Walk in the Room". That was a very showbiz little sentence, wasn't it? .... And now I go potty. .... I will write again soon people .... XXxx Fyfe P.S. I should add that... .... Guillemots have been meeting up and playing and writing throughout this year, even eating Vietnamese food together, and we're very much feeling like we did before we ever had a record out - naive, excited, secretive, daunted, but definitely buzzing. We've amassed hundreds of ideas and are now moving into a new rehearsal space to start to demoing songs, talking to producers, and - yes! - even tentatively booking the first studio dates for album number three! We're like good Stilton, man. You got to let these things mature a bit... .. Management: Ed Millett Hear No Evil mailbox@hnoe.net
