  • "Road Of Life" now available on iTunes Music Store!

    Current mood:peaceful

So I was thrilled to be asked to play at the Apple Store on 5th Avenue in NYC on Friday June 15 as part of their 'Midnight Mix' series, from 12 Midnight to 2 AM. Admission is free, expect to hear a bit of everything across the board as always!

Apple was nice enough to ask me to put together some playlists of songs I liked from what's available on their iTunes Music Store, and even made a special page for it there, including three playlists, as well as a link to my own Deep Space NYC web site.Thank you Apple for giving me this opportunity!!

So since they were being so nice, I made the decision to give them a little advance online exclusive to sell my new song, "Road Of Life" which is now officially for sale as a download for your iPod. (Disclaimer: At this time I am not sure which version they are offering, but I believe that it is the standard DRM'ed one, not the DRM-free ones they sell on iTunes Plus.. not sure as this part is still all so new.)

This brand new song - which is coming out on our very own 'Deep Space Media' imprint - will also be available a bit later on in the usual formats including vinyl, no worries. Remixes are in the works as well. Stay tuned!

As well, we put together an iTunes-only compilation album which offers some of the songs I've released since 1996, entitled François K. - Collected Works 96-06, again available for sale as AAC files for your iPod.

Enjoy, and hope to see some of you for my gig at New York's 5th Avenue Apple Store on June 15 from Midnight until 2 AM! I can't wait!

  • Another amazing couple of weeks on the road...

    Current mood:artistic

Today happens to be D-Day's 63rd Anniversary, the day the Allied Forces landed in Normandy, a time when so many American and British soldiers gave their lives to start the liberation of France, then the rest of Europe from the Nazis. Something to be thankful for, and never to forget!

These last few weeks have been an incredible whirlwind for me, traveling all over the globe as the Summer season is just starting to heat up. I just realized that in the last few weeks, I was lucky and privileged enough to play alongside many incredibly gifted and talented DJ's and music makers:

    - on May 20th in Tokyo for an outdoor edition of Body&SOUL alongside Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell and Danny Krivit where close to 4,000 people partied together in perfect weather from Noon well into the night.

    - Then passing through Sapporo to make first contact with a new venue which just got built, 'Fillmore North'; complete audiophile sound system, Mark Levinson amps, Koetsu moving coil cartridges... WOW! (more on this later)

    - Then playing in Spain on May 18 and 19, once at Madrid's Macumba with sleeparchive, and another gig for America's Cup in Valencia with Jeff Mills.

    - The next day (Sunday June 27), along with Steve Bicknell and Jeff Mills, an absolutely mesmerizing Techno gig at Lost in London. This had to be one of my most enjoyable gigs this year!

    - The following evening, after a quick flight from London, getting dubby back home in NYC alongside Rhythm&Sound for another incredible edition of Deep Space NYC.

-Then another gig on June 2nd with Deep Dish's Dubfire and Jeff Mills (again!!) for Angels Of Love in Napoli for the first edition of their festival, Napoli Of Love.

Then back to New York City for another edition of Deep Space this past Monday June 4th, with none other than Theo Parrish, playing together the whole night, and having an absolute blast getting deep, jazzy and dubbed-out... anything between Dubstep and Free Jazz...this one was lethal!

All of this made me realize how lucky and blessed I have been to be able to share the stage with such special people, who constantly give themselves to the cause of music, and never fail to take us to a higher ground...

So much respect and thanks to those I mentioned above, for having given me such an amazing rush, and so much inspiration, as well as unconditional mark of love and appreciation to everyone who brought great vibes to those gigs!!

    Peace and Music.

  • DJ Life In The Fast Lane - A Quick Summer Party Report

    Current mood:calm

Never had such a busy Summer, and not a minute to post!

Some amazing, diverse parties and many, many miles traveled.

A few personal highlights (sorry to anyone I did not mention):

    - Deep Space NYC on the 4th of July. The party was so packed there was a line around the block, and everyone inside enjoying dubby vibes to celebrate America's birthday.

    - Angels Of Love at Metropolis in Napoli (July 9th) As always, massive crowd cheering and chanting, such beautiful energy and passion.

    - Deep Space in Japan (Summer Edition) Club JB's in Nagoya - July 22 - Don't know how it happened, but ended up playing "Voodoo Chile" in the middle of all this tripped-out Dub, R&B, Hip-Hop, Techno and Drum & Bass, which had the crowd completely mental.

    - Playing with Carl Cox at Space (Ibiza) for what seemed like 6,000 people on August 1st. This had to be my best party ever on the island. Lots of yummy Techno sounds for sure. Special thanks to Rob Rives for helping me out with this one!

    - Some really great live gigs along with Eric Kupper, Jephté Guillaume and Carlos Gomez and Rob Rives (Bacardi Live) in Brazil and Portugal (August 8, 10, 12). More of those to come in selected locations for Bacardi Live events.

    - La Capannina in Alassio (Italy) on August 15. They were going completely bonkers for Electro all night long, never heard so much screaming when the bass kicks in, this was one of the maddest crowds in a long time. Can't wait to go back!

    - Watching the sun come up over the sea at Mykonos' Cavo Paradiso the next day (August 16), playing along with Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell for another 'Double Journey' party that finally ended at around 9 AM with everyone having the time of their life. So very special!

It's been an incredible whirlwind of endless travels, but such an incredible rush to be able to share all of this varied music with so many people.

Now back in NYC for a minute before heading back out!
