  • It's Gonna Be Alright :-)

I wanted to share my excitement with all of my friends!  My tape is currently number 41 out of over 16,000 entries in the MySpace Toyota Music record contest!  I am so stoked!

You know what would make me even more stoked?  If you would listen and feel the love, and then share the love with your friends.  My goal is to make a real change through beautiful music.  I did not start what I intend to finish.

I am not claiming to be perfect.  I certainly have my flaws like everyone else.  But I have been living a very simple lifestyle for several years now which has changed my perspective on things.  I think keeping these things to myself would be selfish.
By simple I do not mean easy.  Life has been very challenging since we gave up our lifes of "luxery" for our humble cabin in the mountains.  I have seen the hardest times of my life in the last few years.  But I look back on all of it with fondness.

Please listen to my new song.  I was apprehensive entering it into a contest because it is an unpolished "scratch" track.  But I had no time to do a professional recording, and this song was the one I needed to enter.  I read that the songs will be judged 25% on originality, 25% on creativity, 25% on lyrics, and 25% on likability.  So since I am not being judged by the recording, I am feeling more confident.

I need you now more than ever!  Please listen, and help me achieve my dream!  I am seeing now that it really is possible :-)

    Peace and much Love,
    Erin Elizabeth :-)
  • WIld Strawberries

    Current mood:grateful

This morning I transplanted some wild strawberries from the road (which is scheduled to be fixed this year) into my back yard.  The wild strawberries where I live produce little sweet berries no bigger than your fingernail, which are delicious little treats.  We have lots of wild strawberries this year and they are starting to flower, which means the berries will be coming soon.

There is a lot of wild food on the mountain.  Right now there is miner's lettuce and wild celery in abundance.  The miner's lettuce has the consistancy and taste of spinach, and produces pretty little edible flowers that look lovely in salads or on tacos :-)  The wild celery grows like a weed up here, and you eat its flavorful leaves instead of the stalks.  Soon there will be wild plums, choke cherries and elderberries (both good for jelly or wine, but not to eat on their own), wild asparagus, wild carrots.

I love living on the mountain and eating the wonderful wild foods that it provides for us.

If you haven't listened to my new song yet, please take a moment to push play on the tape below.  Your interest also helps me get into the semi-finals for a chance to win a record deal and lots of great Fender equipment with MySpace Records!
  • I need your help!

    Current mood:hopeful

I know the chances of winning are slim, but I am going for it anyway!  I could really use a record deal and some good equipment!  Help me out by putting some plays on my tape! If they are looking for a "rags to rock" candidate, they have got the right girl right here!

I finished writing this song the day I found out about the contest, and it fit so perfectly I rush-recorded it and just threw the scratch out there.  The recording is good enough to show you what I can do, and it holds the feeling I was trying to empart.  It is my hope that you feel something when you listen, and that the words speak to you personally.

Take a listen and share with your friends.

    Peace and Love,
    Erin Elizabeth :-)

  • Our Trip to Eugene

    Current mood:tired

Just to let you know, we went to Eugene for Gabriel's doctor appointment with the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center, where he was diagnosed with autism.  This, apparently, makes everyone's job a little harder.  The doctors said we have a long road ahead of us.

For anyone who does not know the history behind this and is interested, please read my blog on childhood vaccines.  Gabriel was a normal child before his severe reaction to the MMR vaccine at 12 months, and now at three years old he does not speak a word.

We stopped at Cougar Hot Springs on the way home, which was a nice repreave.  We had a nice long soak and then camped until the next day.  We met some new friends who are sure to become old friends one day.  I wish we could have stayed longer.  It is one of my favorite places to visit.  If you have never been there you should check it out.

Please say a prayer for Gabriel, and for us.  He is a lot more work than a normal three-year-old, and we have our plates full.

    Love and Peace :-)
