I had no idea carpetbagger had a post amer. civil war history--a neg. term for those from the North that bagged, stole belongings in carpets--basically anyone taking advantage of the South for private gain under reconstruction governments...you're right, it could be taken more broadly.
I get the dollar vs pound, I get the fox and the top-hat, the oil fields, bomber planes, the long claws, the vulnerable bird--but the pin-stripe pants and the zippered bag with the heart-shapes print?? hmmm.
