Award-Winning Bassist: 2006 Blues Foundation (W.C. Handy) Award Winner "Best New Artist", 2005 XM Satellite Radio" Best New Blues Artist", 2005 All Access Magazine"Best Blues Group/Artist", 2004 International Blues Challenge "1st Place Band". As a Venice Beach native with Seattle roots, Dug Mug Swanson has established himself as a bassist, songwriter in the Los Angeles Underground Rock Scene. He was born in Seattle, Washington. Graduated from Venice High School with honors in literature.He grew up surfing at the Venice Breakwater and began playing guitar at the age of 10 in McCabes guitar shop(when it was called the 8TH Note) Picked up the Bass at the age of 19 in Arizona. Dug Mug has played with some of the best in Blues/Rock, as well as having co-produced and played on numerous recordings. His accomplishments include performing at the 2004 Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl. Stature of bassist in the house band at Babes and Ricky's Inn (L.A.'s oldest blues club), having performed with some of the greats: Keb-Mo, Guitar Shorty, Joe Houston, Finis Tasby, Jackson Browne, Denny Freeman, Kirk Fletcher, Kid Ramos, Otis Taylor, Rick Holmstrom, Paul Oscher, Junior Watson, James Gadson, Anson Funderburgh w/ Sam Myers, James Intveld, Dave Alvin, Vince Converse, Ry Cooder, Tommy Castro, among others. Favorite bassists include Cliff Burton, Tommy Shannon, Berry Oakley, Noel Redding, Keith Ferguson, Johnny Bazz, John Paul Jones, Krist Novelselic, Willie weeks(Y'all). Moreover Dug Mug has appeared in Green Day's award winning video, "Time of Your Life" Good Riddance. Performed at The Native American Awards w/ John Trudell, Floyd Red Crow Westerman and Reservations throughout California. Professionally toured Europe, Japan, Tahiti, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands. So, Let's have coffee on the front porch and watch all the 9 to 5 ers drive off to work...
