Jordan Galland's musical baby, Dopo Yume, is a campy mix of indie pop and garage rock.
He was 18 when he founded this funky outfit in 1998, combining the Italian word for "after" (dopo) and the Japanese translation for "dream" (yume). For the next few years. Galland collaborated with some of his fellow N.Y.C. pals like Sean Lennon, Cibo Matto's Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda, and Timo Ellis, but solidified Dopo Yume's lineup with the addition of Jopa Keenon (drums), Adam Crystal (keyboards), and David Muller (bass). Guitarist/arranger Kevin McGinnis joined shortly thereafter and Dopo Yume immediately charged the posh, post-grunge music scene taking over Manhattan. They played shows with the likes of Rufus Wainwright and Phantom Planet, and in late 2002, Dopo Yume's cheeky, fun debut, True Romance, was independently released. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
