In July 2006, Ben Tompsett proved a vital link in the future of music by introducing two seperate friends, JG and Dave, thus forming the jam collective that would come to be known as 'The Jammy Bodgers'. Flinging open their doors to anyone with a desire to make a tuneful or rhythmic noise with something, anything, a band and an ethos was born..... Two key events led to an explosion of creativity in November of the same year:.. First, Phil Tompsett, proprioter of Dead Men's Ties, kindly donated 3 beautifully crafted used trilbies (who's previous owners are presumed deceased or they wouldn't have given them up) and so the band was destined to be named, and wear these sacred trilbies at all times of performance..... Second, the badgering of the gorgeous and immensely talented Joe Escott: Local Hero led to a weekly jam of epic proportions. In the first week alone almost 3 hours of material was recorded and can be heard here on this page. From then on these jams became known as The Abingdon Road Sessions..... The legend is growing and the backbone of Dead Men's Trilbys (Ben, Dave and JG) made their debut public performance at Plymouth's own Bac Bar in Christmas 2006 with a phenomenal acoustic rendition of Huey Lewis' 'The Power of Love'..... The band are open to and encourage collaborations and jams, and can provide the following instruments for said jams:.... Electric Guitars.. Bass Guitars.. Acoustic Guitars.. 12 String Electro-Acoustic Guitar.. Spanish Guitar.. Ukulele.. Treble Recorder.. Descant Recorder.. Penny Whistle.. 8 piece drum kit, currently featuring 3 extra splash and crash cymbals.. Bongos.. Bodhrán with tipper.. Tambourine.. Maracas.. Cow Bell.. Agogo Bells.. Shaky Egg.. Croaky Frog.. Trumpet.. Harmonica/Mouth Organ of various sizes, all in C Scale.. Electronic Organ.. Kazoo.. Melodica.. Tiny Ocarina.. Keyboard.. Glockenspiel.. Zither.. Accordian.. and Violin.....
