If you're a person between the ages of 14 and 30… heck, if you're a person between the ages of 10 and 80; you have probably uttered the inevitable question on a slow weekend in Phoenix. Is there anything to do in this city? That's what I'm setting out to answer. Of course there are things to do, but where? When? Who's going? Why? There are answers. An untapped valley of art, music, fashion, lies embedded in a city moving faster and growing with each year. With all of these new inhabitants, there have to be new happenings. So, this is my quest… each week to dive further and further into the city. To find out what is influencing the Phoenix culture: in particular, what is influencing the Phoenix culture of fashion, art, and music. To find the local scene and embrace it, nurture it, and share it. It is far too often that we get trapped or stuck in our routines; where Friday night becomes synonymous with dinner and a movie – or in my case, to-go orders and NetFlix. It's time we sought out the beauty that is residing right below the city's surface, on the streets, in dark-lit venues, directly beneath our eyes yet going unseen. It's time to see it. It's time to see Phoenix.
