About me:

Photobucket Big Pink Cake is a club in Bristol (and sometimes not Bristol), dedicated to playing classic and new INDIEPOP, 60's girl groups, the poppier moments of punk, Motown and soul.


Big Pink Cake is an event with special guest djs from the indiepop world past and present. Our guest djs so far have included Johnny Brown (The Band of Holy Joy), Martin Whitehead (The Flatmates/The Subway Organisation), Rocker (The Flatmates/The Rosehips/dandelionradio.com), Gregory Webster (Razorcuts/Sportique), Clare Wadd (Sarah Records), Scott and Richy (Secret Shine), Jonny Collins (Modesty Blaise), John and Dave (The Hi-Life Companion), Sean, Thom, Jim and Alex (The Kick Inside), Andrew (The Groove Farm/Beatnik Filmstars/(The) Nervous Rex), Paul (The Haywains/The Westfield Mining Disaster), Marianthi (Spiral Scratch/Atomic Beat Records) and Trev (Lost Music/Odd Box Records) David Gedge (The Wedding Present/Cinerama), Daniel (So Tough, So Cute), Jennifer (Colour Me Pop), Rory (Twee as Fuck), James, Sandy and Morgan (Comeout2nite), Kayliegh and Jamie (Twee In The Park), Roque (Cloudberry Records).


In 2010 the indie pop adventure will continue, with some more things in store and up our sleeves. 2009 was the best ever! so many wonderful things happened, not merely to us and you, but especially YOU over there and all over the world - the fantastic San Francisco pop fest, the absolutely brilliant beyond belief Hamburg P!O!P! weekender and Derbyshire's very own indietracks which is about amazing as amazing gets really. Well, INDIE POP DON'T STOP! And yippeee to that. Keep your eyes peeled here and beyond for things to unfold as they happen.


Big Pink Cake is really proud to have presented Vic Godard and Subway Sect, Electrophonvintage, The Hi-Life Companion, Amida, Horowitz, The Kick Inside, The Short Stories, The Parallelograms, Cocoanut Groove, The Pete Green Corporare Juggernaut, The Westfield Mining Disaster, The Mai68s, Francois, Santa Dog, The Wendy Darlings, The Bumblebees, CountrySide, Secret Shine, Arctic Circle, The Manhattan Love Suicides, Houdie, Pocketbooks, Terry de Castro, The Great Admirers, The Give It Ups, The Sunny Street, Days, Tender Trap, Falling and Laughing, Phil Wilson and band, Misty Roses, Hong Kong in the 60s, A Fine Day For Sailing, Farthing Wood, Cue Fanfare, Gregory Webster, The Loves, Northern Portrait, Cats on Fire, Socialist Leisure Party and The Fauns. Each band that we ever put on, is a band that we really really like/ love /feel passionately about. We wouldn't want ANYTHING less, and to share them with everyone else makes it all the more worthwhile. All the bands that have played at Big Pink Cake have been an absolute joy to have on board, and have kept the ship bobbing along quite fantastically, each in their own totally unique and wonderful way. Thank you.


Big Pink Cake recognizes how indiepop is forever changing and we love the sound of what's fresh and new. However, we also realize the importance of the past and want to celebrate all things pop that have shaped our todays and tomorrows.
