APIA40 とは

1970年渋谷に「SPACE LABORATORY HAIR」をオープン。小劇場またはアングラ(Under Ground Theater)として音楽、演劇、舞踏、実験映画、美術、写真、などを中心に様々な公演が行われた。

70年中頃に音楽のパワーに注目しライブを中心としたスペースに変化、店名も「渋谷アピア」と改める。以降、アコースティックや弾き語りの新しい文化を創ってその魅力を追求する。

2009年7月新たな展開を向かえ目黒区碑文谷(学芸大学)に移転する。これまでの40年の歴史を土台に、これからの40年を生きる新しい船造りを目指すという想いを込めて、“アピア40”と改める。
