Amsterdam hail from the city of Liverpool and were formed by poet/songwriter/guitarist/humanist Ian Prowse. The official debut album 'The Journey' was released in 2005 on Beat Crazy Records and spawned a number 32 hit single of the same name. The follow up 'Does this train stop on Merseyside?' reduced the great John Peel to tears on air each time he played it.

The third single 'Taking on the world' went onto the Radio 2 playlist and won an unprecedented five mornings on the run on the Breakfast show competition against that weeks other releases.

Amsterdam are also famed for their incendiary live performances. So much so that none other than Elvis Costello has used the lads as his backing band on 'The Jonathon Ross TV show'.The boys have also stormed Janice Longs Radio 2 live performance shows on three separate occasions!
